Take the Japandroids album title seriously. "Post-Nothing" is a collection of trend-bucking, fist pumping anthems that puts the rock back in indie rock. The Canadian duo of Brian King and David Prowse do their fellow countrymen proud by following their own path, instead of chasing the trends of American hipster culture. Just as fellow Canadians Neil Young, Rush, Godspeed You Black Emperor and Wolf Parade have pretty much done their own goddamned thing to great effect, regardless of fashion, Japandroids have entered the fray with some seriously ferocious garage power-pop. Add to their musical assault bittersweet lyrics that go to the root of individual restlessness and you have a debut album that brims with brawn and substance. This is the real shit here boys and girls, and it moves the body and heart in equal measure.
